Yes! After the idea struck me—why not make the most of system dynamics to curb the effects of COVID-19 in Peru?—we spent weeks modeling the “initial idea” and, under the leadership of the outstanding Professor Ricardo Rodríguez Ulloa, turned a question: Effects of COVID-19 in Peru: A System Dynamics Approach – Part 1 [Coronavirus] into a project selected by CONCYTEC (Peru’s leading science authority). The project is titled:

“A Systemic Study of COVID-19 in the Health Sector and Its Impact on the Peruvian Economy, and the Development of Dynamic Regional Government Policies Using a Soft System Dynamics Approach and Data Science.”

The research project involves a tremendous amount of work. As the title shows, we are using not only system dynamics but also the Soft Systems Dynamics Methodology of the remarkable RRU. We will also use data science.

What began as a modest article on this website, followed by a huge effort to turn it into a scientific project proposal, has finally become a winning proposal in what is—possibly—one of CONCYTEC’s most important scientific project competitions in recent years.

Months of hard work lie ahead.
